Alan's 35 plus years as an accounting professional (20+ as a CPA and 15+ as an IRS Agent and Team Leader) brings to his clients, a depth of knowledge and experience that uniquely positions him in the marketplace. Very few former IRS agents, who are also CPA's, have securities registrations. While Alan worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), he led audits and handled complex corporate tax issues. With the IRS, he also investigated individuals and businesses who were involved in "underground" economy activities, worked closely with local, county and other law enforcement agencies, taught accounting classes for other agents, did public speaking engagements, TV interviews and live radio call shows. While working for the IRS, Alan passed the Certified Public Accountants examination (CPA).
Alan established his own private accounting practice in 1993 (Furmankiewicz and Associates) and has achieved significant growth by catering to successful and growing entrepreneurial businesses and individuals. Alan is a firm believer that the business of accounting is more than just addition and subtraction, it is more than individual services. It's a succession of sound ideas, timely information, solid strategies and expertise that is applied to his clients' personal and business situation. Alan assembled a team of professionals (partnership with Ergawealth Advisors) who are committed to providing personalized service beyond the dimensions offered by most CPA firms.

What is a CPA?
A Certified Public Accountant, or CPA, acts as a trusted adviser to both individuals and businesses regarding a variety of financial and tax matters. A Certified Public Accountant is more than just a bookkeeper or a tax preparer, a CPA is a business and financial strategist who can help you and/or your business make important financial decisions using the knowledge of an experienced professional. CPA’s distinguish themselves from other finance professionals by stringent qualification and licensing requirements. In the business world, the CPA designation is one of the most highly-trusted of professional designations. Certified Public Accountants must work hard to obtain their CPA designation through higher education and grueling examination. A CPA is also required to complete mandated CPE courses annually to maintain their license, so they are always informed of the latest changes in tax law, technology, and any other industry-related education. Additionally, a CPA has full representation rights before the IRS.
